About Me

Who am I?

Honestly, I don't know — and isn't that just the point?

I know for certain I am a happy wife,
a cherished daughter and sibling,
and the mother of two wonderful children.

Professionally, I teach biology and mathematics —
subjects that make sense when little else does.
I like to search for and deliver clear explanations
for complex phenomena.
The exchanges in teaching are beautiful.

I enjoy photography
and advocating for young women in STEM.

I have a great fear of English Literature.
(Yep — I still chose not just to write all this,
but to share it publicly.
Yikes. I know I make mistakes. Please forgive me.)

Like many, I struggle with purpose, meaning,
and emotions, despite the richness of my life.

I also live with a rare disease called Ollier’s,
and probably ADHD — which together explain
some of the chaos I’ve spent years calling absurdity.

They’re part of the story, but not the whole of it.

Hence, The Pros of Prose —
ramblings of an untrained writer
searching for something difficult to define.

You might think I should have kept these, ummm...
works of “some” sort stored away.

Really, why share them at all?

After all, when we share, we are exposed and vulnerable.
We all know the vultures are there, lurking.

I suppose I hope that something I say will resonate with you —
a shared experience, conviction, or complaint.
Maybe we’ll meet minds for a moment.
A little less time alone, even if it’s brief.
Trivial, perhaps, in an entire lifetime —
but so many things come down to just one moment.
